The Magic Stick opened in the early 1990s on the second floor of The Majestic Theatre after eight bowling lanes were removed and replaced with pool tables and a dance floor. A basement aesthetic defined the space, supporting Detroit’s garage, alt rock, and electronic music scenes. Later, the remaining four lanes were removed to expand the dance floor, forming a dedicated rock venue. A 2015 renovation added LED lighting, an extended stage with improved sound, an additional bar, VIP booths, and a redesigned dance floor.
